Sustainable & Responsible Fisheries
The Alaska Sablefish comes from a stable and well managed fishery. The North Pacific Fisheries Management Council (NPFMC) manages this fishery and sets the seasons to coincide with the Halibut fishery. The NPFMC has been able to maintain a stable fishery and prevent stock and environmental problems that have caused concern in other parts of the world. Alaska Sablefish is included in the "Best Choices" list by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.
